“KOLOBOT” collaborative robot
The keys that define manufacturing of the future are Automation and Robotisation, Flexibility, Intelligence, Sustainability, Connectivity, and more Social manufacturing.
Collaborative robotics, which brings together the above characteristics and is part of the Basque Industry 4.0, is one factor of this new industrial revolution.
Incorporating this type of equipment into the Vocational Training Centres is very costly, mainly considering that training cycles indirectly deal with this technology, such as the Mechanical Manufacturing Family cycles. HRE Hidraulic, together with the Integrated Vocational Training Centre of Iurreta and La Salle Berrozpe, are working on a project to develop and build a COLLABORATIVE BIKE ROBOT with open hardware and open software to solve this problem. Aligned with the Basque Country Science, Technology and Innovation Plan 2020 in its Strategic Priorities within the section on ADVANCED MANUFACTURING, as well as with the 4th Basque Vocational Training Plan, within the axis “Applied Innovation” where the objective of “Supporting and promoting applied innovation projects with companies in the Basque Country, especially SMEs, through close collaboration between vocational training centres and these companies, in the areas defined as strategic for the competitiveness of the Basque Country” is set out.
By the end of 2017, one of the two arms will be entirely built, with the second arm’s manufacturing and coordination between the two arms and the development of a user-friendly HMI (Human Machine Interface) environment remaining for 2018.
